Do you have a High Standard pistol with a cracked frame?
I have not seen one, but there is discussion of this on another forum. They do not know how commonly this occurred but imply it was a frequent problem.
Please send me a Model and serial number so I can track it from factory records. Photos and/or descriptions would also be appreciated.
I will report results here or in the newsletter.

ReplyDeleteThis has been throoughly discussed ojn Rimfire Central. THere are a number of factors that make cracking more likely. THe early type I-A and type I-B takedowns have a tendency to crack. The most likely model to crack is the 102 design series. The 103 and later series used a different frame design that would tend to lessen the cracking tendency. The type II takedown models tended to fracture the folding stop lug. Most to the other models , the lever letter, lever name 100 and 101 series gun shad little if ay cracking history.
ReplyDeleteThere was a comment by Dick Baker in the bewsletter years ago that he was of the opinion that they had lsed leaded steel which caused the problem. I do not share that opinion.
