Please assist in this research project:
About six months ago with the help of the John Currie book I began compiling a list of the various barrels of the High Standard .22 auto pistols. I thought there might be about 50 barrels but ended up with 81 barrels after a few days of working on the list. I have sent this list to three fellow HSCA members asking for them to review the list and get back to me with errors or omissions. So far after six months I have only received two helpful suggestions. What I need to improve this list is for people with more knowledge in certain areas to examine the list and get back to me with their suggestions. I have only the examples in my collection and the John Currie book to guide me. I have the most uncertainty in the area of the 5 ½ inch bull barrels and the 7 ¼ inch fluted barrel guns. I have identified nine different features that make these barrels difficult to have an accurate accounting. The features are the (1) absence or (2) presence of muzzle brake notches and weight screws, (3) long front sight or (4) short front sight, (5) blued or polished steel muzzle, (6) super blue, (7) electroless finish, (8) socket head series and (9) .22 short. I am sure I am in error of some or missing other variations. I quit working on this list a few months ago but recently re-visited it with a fresh start. My current count is 102 barrels. I know it is very time consuming to examine every barrel in this list, but I have never seen this information presented in this way. My hope is that with other people's input the list can be more or less finalized and possibly be posted as a PDF on the HSCA blog. My apologies for not having a document that other people can work with, but I only have Google docs to prepare my document and save it as a PDF. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this document with fellow HSCA members that you think may be able to offer input.
